The road to Saint-Jacques-De-Compostelle.

The path of the stars, under the sign of the shell:

In the eyes of many people, the path to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, in France, starts at Puy En Velay, Vézelay or even Paris. In reality, the paths of this pilgrimage are much more numerous and it is not necessary to go far to begin your walk.

The path of the stars crosses the Community of Communes of Freyming-Merlebach, notably in Hombourg-Haut and in its old town: the Saint-Etienne collegiate church, the Saint-Nicolas chapel and the Sainte-Catherine chapel are in fact all three marked of the shell. The towns of Béning-Lès-Saint-Avold, Betting and the Saint-Jacques de Seingbouse church are also on the route.

Pilgrims can have their credentials stamped using the stamp in the collegiate church, to the left on the altar of the Virgin, or at the Tourist Office which will also be able to provide them with information. You will also find maps of the Moselle route and shells to decorate your bag or stick at the Tourist Office.

It is from the Palatinate, in Germany, that the star path, or Path of the Stars, which is the name given to the Way of St. James near us. The first pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela followed the stars in the night sky to head towards Spain. It is therefore in memory of this that the name of the path was chosen.

Since 2006, a cross-border cooperation project has been carried out with the Regional Verband Saarbrücken around this route.

A project that is part of a set of values that bind us to our German neighbors: tolerance, humanity, freedom, democracy, friendly encounters between cultures and peace.
