BOURG MÉDIÉVAL DE HOMBOURG-HAUT: LE VIEUX-HOMBOURG
An impressive castle that no longer exists and a walled city were built here by Jacques of Lorraine, Bishop of Metz, from 1240 on. The new city on the formerly undeveloped hill became the new residence of the bailiwick of Hombourg / St-Avold and retained this function until the end of the 17th century. The historical city centre of Vieux-Hombourg, situated on the hill which overlooks Hombourg, reflects the city's former glory. Hombourg is one of the most interesting places for sightseeing in the Roselle valley and in East-Lorraine, giving you a taste of the splendour of the past.
