Overlooking the valley of Roselle, a steep-sided rocky outcrop gives Hombourg-Haut a very special appearance. The silhouettes of houses, pushing against the ancient walls, evoke the glorious past of the old city. Jacques de Lorraine, bishop of Metz, in the middle of the thirteenth century, built a powerful castle and collegiate church with thirteen canons. Many wars shook Hombourg-l’Eveque before its incorporation into the Duchy of Lorraine in 1581. To visit Homburg, just follow the instructions of the footpath (2.5 km) from the site Jacques de Lorraine. Also see tour circuit available at the Tourist Office or at the sites.
